Dan's frame with Nele and jumbled piles of people

I made myself a frame and built it up with old components, then rode it every day for a while (still do actually). The other day I thought, hey, this frame is underrepresented in the blog. So I wrestled with it (it won) and tricked Nele into being a photo model (she requested anonymity). So here she is, my daily ride. I call her Blümchen. She has a broken fender and weighs under 8 kilos.

Plasticinecycles

As a bamboo bike builder I'm often asked- "Why the hell don't you make bike frames out of plasticine shit?!"

Well, I tried- but I had to assess, that plasticine really sucks as a frame-building material. Too many accidents in a row...

Fusion 2011

We had the opportunity to show a bike at Fusion 2011. Thanks to Anja and Till from FairyWings! http://fairywings.de/

We arrived and set up the stand during a beautiful sunny Wednesday. Then on Thursday it started raining. It rained and rained and rained and rained...

Usually when you leave flyers for people to take, they show little interest. I took a stack of flyers, wrapped it up in a plastic bag and hid them behind the seat (to protect them from rain, of course) not expecting anyone to find them, much less go through the trouble of taking one.

We printed 1000 flyers. We have about 200 left. So for all of you who are seeing our blog for the first time, heres some pics from the very few hours of nice weather we had this weekend.

Bikeride

Sie sind jung, sie sind schön und sie sind schnell. Sie kennen kein Gesetz, keine Pflichten, keine roten Ampeln. Alles was sie interessiert, ist ihre Bambusräder zu fahren. Jeden Tag. Bis ans Maximum. Sie sind die Bamboo Cats of Berlin. Hier in unserem Blog.

Mayfest

I love mayfest. Everybody goes outside. Everybody walks around in the streets. People grill on the sidewalk. People talk to eachother. People meet one another. People fall in love. Every once in a while, a car gets set of fire or a brick tossed through a bank window. Thats just how mayfest is.

This mayfest I just so happened to finish a frame. Its the most refined frame I've built yet. And the lightest. I was doing some finishing touches when Stefan and Josie showed up and asked if I wanted to come with them to Kreuzberg. I grabbed my almost finished frame, tossed it over my shoulder, shoved my camera in my pocket and we rode off into the beautiful afternoon...

... but not before making Josie pose for a couple glamour shots in the garden. She is so beautiful.

Enjoy,
Dan
